How to Find PHEV Car Charging Stations
Summer is the season for road trips. If you own an electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle, this is a good way to enjoy travel while minimizing your carbon footprint. Depending on the distance, you’ll need to stop by a car charging station or two. Here is how you can locate public charging spots and plan your route accordingly.
Car Manufacturer App
Most car manufacturer apps have navigation features that also enable drivers to easily locate the nearest charging station and directions to get there. Your vehicle’s infotainment system may also have built-in navigation that can also pinpoint charging stations along your route.
Alternative Fuels Data Center (AFDC)
The AFDC is the official charging station finder courtesy of the U.S. Department of Energy. Just enter your zip code, and the database will show the address of nearby stations. You can also filter by charger type.
You can also look for fuel stations that provide alternative fuel sources, such as biodiesel or ethanol.
Google Maps
You can always use Google Maps to locate charging stations. Just go to the site and input a keyword phrase like “charging station near me.” This should turn up a list of nearby stations and directions to get there. You can also get information on each location, such as whether it’s open 24 hours, and reviews from past users, but it may not have the same level of detail as our other sources.
Come by Brown’s Elkader Chrysler Dodge Jeep® RAM to see our inventory of models like the Chrysler Pacifica, which has a hybrid variant. Owning an EV or PHEV is a lot more convenient nowadays thanks to the ease and access to public charging locations.
