When you need to pile the family into a vehicle and head out on the road, the Dodge Durango is the perfect vehicle. Whether you just need to run errands around town or you are headed out on a family road trip, this SUV has everything you need. Here is why the 2021 Durango is the ultimate family hauler.

The Power

Dodge offers the Durango with a choice of engines, making sure it has the power to haul people, cargo, and even a trailer. The standard powertrain is a 3.6-liter V-6 with 293 horsepower. This engine can tow up to 6,200 pounds, which is more than most other similar SUVs. A 5.7-liter V-8 is available for the R/T and gets 360 horsepower. Towing capacity with this engine rises to 7,400 pounds. If you want more power, the SRT 392 has a 6.4-liter V-8 that puts out 475 horsepower, and the SRT Hellcat has a 640-horsepower V-8.

The Technology

When you have kids in the car, you need the tech features that will keep them happy. The Durango comes with three 12-volt power outlets, the Uconnect 4C infotainment system, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with at least four USB ports. A 115-volt power outlet is available, and you can also upgrade to a 10.1-inch touch screen and a 9-speaker Alpine stereo system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are optional or standard depending on the trim. You can also get a 19-speaker Harmon Kardon stereo and a rear-seat entertainment system along with two additional USB ports for the rear-seat passengers.

The Cabin Features

Everyone has a comfortable place to sit in the Durango. The driver gets a leather-wrapped steering wheel in the base trim, with a heated steering wheel in the R/T along with a power-adjustable seat. The R/T also adds memory settings for the driver’s seat and heated first and second-row seats. The Citadel comes with heated and ventilated front seats and heated captain’s chairs for the second row, which also has a center console.

Cloth upholstery comes in the base trim with leather and simulated leather in the R/T and upgraded Nappa leather in the Citadel. You can get power-folding headrests for the third row, and if you bump up to the GT, a wireless charger is an option.

The Safety Features

The 2021 Durango comes with a rearview camera and offers a long list of optional safety features. The SXT Plus adds parking sensors, and the GT has rear parking sensors. Add the Premium Group II to the GT for automatic high beam headlights and rain-sensing windshield wipers, or the Technology Group for adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and a lane-departure warning system. A blind-spot monitor comes with the Citadel, which also has rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2021 Dodge Durango has room for seven, a comfortable cabin, and features for the whole family. Whether the kids are toddlers or teenagers, there’s tech to keep them entertained and the safety tech to give parents peace of mind.
